but I probably will. Yeah, I know we've been through the "Top 10 best films" thing over and over, but I just had a question. For someone who wants a career in film, what are some movies you consider to be "Required Viewing" (ie El Mariachi, From Dusk Till Dawn, Evid Dead, etc)? Thanks

Once upon a time in the west, Sergio Leone, is a masterpiece. But my all time favourite film is Flash Gordon, honestly. I tend to watch as many bad films as i do good ones. Just watch a lot of films you wouldn't normally watch and you will always find something. Dobermann is a great film too. i can't remember who directed it but it's french and they should have it in your local video shop.

As well as all the great ones, I find watching bad films (such as Entrapment)really helpful, as it gives me a real sense of hope!!!!

Flash Gordon ranks top of my B list. The only reason others don't make it into my list is because they don't have the right bad guy. Every one knows that he has to be English. Even if he puts on an accent.

Required Viewing? hmm.. try to watch all of the early films made by Peter Jackson,
Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles and Brain Dead all show what you can do on a low to no budget film if your skilled and you know what your doing.
If your in to Evil Dead then you'll love this guy.

You could always visit the forum below, I've got some posts which recommend the odd film here and there.

Everyone should watch Cool Runnings, as it's a great feel good film. Bad Boys is a fantastic action flick. As a Spoon Boy said check out Braindead for the over the top 'kill everything with a lawn mower on a tight budget' kinda film. If you ever need to watch a really really bad film to make you drams seem achievable, watch Notting Hill. Also watch other low budget film makers short films and projects.

cannibal holocaust i believe is one of the most interesting films ever made, check it out if you can find a copy, a film of two different styles (film and fake documentary, the blair witch nicked its idea from this film). a perfect film to analyse for all those budding media analysts out there.
